            Muyad Ahmed and Houzan Mahmoud

 

 In a political trip in Japan to gather support for the anti occupation and anti Isalmists mass movement in Iraq.

 

Muyad Ahmad member of  the Political Bureau of the  Worker Communist Party of Iraq (WCPI) and Houzan Mahmoud representative of the Organization of Women’s Freedom in Iraq(OWFI)  visited  Japan between 10 and  20  December 2004 to gather  political, moral  and financial  support  for  the  mass movement in Iraq to end occupation and  restore civil life in Iraq. They publicized through their activities the new initiative by WCPI to set up a mass based organization with an international dimension to restore civil

life and end occupation of Iraq.

 

    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                                             

They were invited by the Japanese “Solidarity Committee with the civil resistance in Iraq”, Movement for Democratic Socialism (MDS), International Criminal Tribunal for Iraq (ICTI), and Zeinko. The activities included  attending meetings and press conferences,   giving speeches,  having  seminars, meeting with  human rights advocates, progressive  organizations  and  taking part in  a demonstrations  in support of the Iraqi people.

 

 The activities in brief:  

On 11/12/2004 Houzan Mahmoud took part in a press conference organized by (ICTI) in Tokyo where she spoke about the women’s situation under occupation and the violation of their rights by Islmaists. On 12/12/2204 the ICTI was held to condemn Tony Blair, George W.Bush, Prime minister of Japan Koizumi, and Gloria M Arroyo president of Philippine. There were various witnesses among them Houzan Mahmoud who was investigated by a prosecutor to speak about the civil resistance in Iraq. Houzan spoke about the aims, and objectives of this movement and its main composition:

 Federation of workers councils and unions in Iraq (FWCUI), Worker communist party of Iraq (WCPI),

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Organization of women’s freedom in Iraq (OWFI), Union of Unemployed (UUI), and organization to defend children’s rights, Association of homeless families, and others.

She also pointed out the violation of women’s rights particularly under the occupation as well as the political Islamic groups who are using the “resistance” as an excuse to terrorize women.

Both Muayad and Houzan were asked to attend the stage along with other international guests to receive a warm welcome by more than 400 attendants. 

 

On 13/12/2004 Muyad Ahmad and Houzan Mahmoud along with comrades from the Solidarity Iraq Civil Resistance attended a meeting with the chair person (Tomiyama Yoko) and the general secretary of Consumers Union of Japan in Tokyo. In this meeting Muyad Ahmed and Houzan Mahmoud spoke about the workers and women’s movement in Iraq and the role of progressive civil mass movement as the only alternative to both the US and the Isalmists.  They also explained the reasons why this movement boycotts the so called January election in Iraq.

In the same evening a seminar was held in Tokyo in which they both explained the political situation in Iraq and explained the third alternative as the only exit out of the misery’s of the masses in Iraq. 

On 14/12/200 both Muyad Ahmed and Houzan Mahmoud met with the leadership pf Movement for Democratic Socialism to discuss the political issues of Iraq and the new initiative by the Worker Communist Party of Iraq and other grass root organization to set up a mass based organization in Iraq. Muayad and Houzan explained the main aims and objectives of this organization as to mobilize both the masses in Iraq and the international freedom loving community in one single organization to bring a bout a humane and progressive change in Iraq. He then pointed to the local and international character, the main tactics, and the organizational aspects of this organization to the leadership of the MDS and explained why setting up such an organization is a major step forward in the progressive and civic mass movement in Iraq.  There was a great deal of understanding and agreement on this issue by MDS leadership.

 

On 15/12/2004 both  Houzan Mahmoud( in Hiroshima) and Muayad ahmed( in Kobe )  gave  speeches  in two meetings   about the situation in Iraq and the humane  way out of it. The meetings were organized by the local Solidarity committees with civil resistance in Iraq. 

A brief report about both Muayad Ahmed, and Houzan Mahmoud’s speeches were reflected in the 3rd largest national news paper in Japan (Mainichi Newspaper). Another local paper of Hiroshima called Chogoko highlighted Houzan’s speech in Hiroshima.

On 16 –12-2004 Both Muayad Ahmed and Houzan Mahmood had another round of meeting with MDS leadership. It has been agreed on the active participation of the MDS in the organization of restoring civic life and ending occupation that had been discussed in the previous meeting. They agreed to play an active role in this movement.

On the same day Muayad Ahmed   had a press conference in Otsu and a meeting there organized by ICTI. On her part Houzan Mahmoud had a meeting in Nagoya on the same day organized by the local Solidarity committee. Both meetings were attended by local activists who were eager to know more about Iraq and strengthen their international support for the civil resistance movement in Iraq.

On 17/12/2004 Houzan Mahmoud and Muyad Ahmed had visited the homeless tents at one of the parks of the city of Osaka and met with the homeless rights activists in the camp.  In the evening they both took part in a solidarity night with OWFI in Osaka which was organized by the local Solidarity committee of Osaka. More than 100 persons attended the meeting. A very successful presentation of the political situation and process in Iraq and its main players, by the speakers and the lively discussions and   active participations from the floor made this event an impressive one where 11 attendants affiliated to Solidarity Iraq Civil Resistance.

On 18/12/2004 Houzan Mahmoud and Muyad Ahmed gave speeches in the conference of Youth Peace Action (YPA) in Tokyo.

 

In the same day Muayad Ahmed  along with comrades from Movement for Democratic Socialism met with professor Akiro Maeda the  internationally known human rights advocate . In this meeting discussion focused on the humane way out of the situation in Iraq and the new initiative by WCPI to set up a mass based organization in Iraq with an international dimension. He agreed on that. 

 On 19/12/2004 Muayad Ahmed and Houzan Mahmoud took part in a demonstration organized by YPA. Both Houzan and Muyad spoke on the political situation in Iraq and the importance of international solidarity.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the same day Houzan and Muyad along with comrades from Movement for Democratic Socialism met with another human rights advocate figure professor of law Mr. Narihiko Ito. The political situation in Iraq and the importance of uniting the secular and freedom loving activists and organizations world wide were discussed and a plan for more cooperation agreed on.
