Mass protest to thwart Writing a Fascist Constitution
With a slogan: No to a conspiracy of imposition of a nationalist-Islamic Fascist constitution, No to constitution of ethnic and sectarian division in Iraq, towards a defeat of a fascist constitution based on ethnicity and religion. A mass protest was organized attended by hundreds of progressive and labor activists against what is so-called draft constitution on Sunday August 21, 2005. In a response to a call made by the worker communist party of Iraq, organization woman freedom of Iraq, Iraq freedom Congress, and federation of worker council and unions in Iraq along with many TV stations and media correspondents.
Speeches, drum beats, and chants were involved in the event demanding a secular constitution. The event began with the worker communist party of Iraq Leader Rebwar Ahmed's message read by Adil Salih (a political bureau member) followed by Yanar Mohammed, of organization woman freedom of Iraq, then Rasheed Ismail Secretary of the defense of people sustenance committee in Iraq and of Iraq freedom Congress.
During the event, many banners were raised calling for working towards thwarting the process of drafting this constitution. Considering it as another phase of the U.S. dark scenario in Iraq where people will not have any chance to practice their rights freely and unconditionally. In addition, this process means bypassing the main problems and issues facing Iraqi people, such as the terrorist war and U.S. led occupation.
Also during that event, banners were raised by organization woman freedom in Iraq such as (separation the religion from the state, no to discriminatory constitution). Many TV and media interviews where held with Yanar Mohammed, Adil Salih, Abd-alkareem Abd-alsada,Thikra Faisal and the secular figure Amd-alsattar Al-athamee. The event lasted for more than one and half-hour.
