Statement of the Worker-communist Party of Iraq- Organization of Australia on the death threat against the editor of Furat Arabic daily

Furat Arabic daily, which mainly focuses on Iraq, is published in Sydney-Australia. During this week, its editor in chief, Mr. Hussein Khoshnaw was threatened to death. In an interview with SBS radio, Mr. Khoshnaw revealed that he received a dearth threat through an audio cassette thrown into the office of the newspaper and the perpetrators claims to belong to al-Qaeda terrorist group.

We in the Australian organization of the Worker-communist Party of Iraq strongly condemn this terrorist act. We hold the Australian authority responsible for protecting the editor and the staff of Furat daily. The authority should take this threat seriously.

This threat came at a time when many figures and groups of political Islam use various humanitarian and human right organizations as façades to carry out their inhumane activities. Recently many Islamic figures have made reactionary comments against women, civil laws and the civilized people of Australia and their lifestyle.

This threat is the continuation of the comments by Islamic mufti in Australia, Tajaden al-Hilali and preaches of Feiz Mohammd the head of Global Islamic Youth Center in Liverpool who wants children to be taught the love of martyrdom and calls on Muslims to kill non-Muslims. These attacks by Islamic groups and figures in a civilized society like Australia are the extension of the terrorist and oppressive acts committed by them in Islam-stricken countries.

These violations are committed before the eyes of the Australian government, which has done very little against these groups and figures. Moreover this government lends material support to the organizations which act as facades for these groups. The government also recognizes figures like Hilali as the representative of the Arab community while these people impose themselves on people in the same way islamists impose themselves on people of Islam-stricken countries.

We call on all political groups, legal and human right organization, communities and people of Australia in general to condemn this threat against the editor of Furat Arabic daily and to protest against the Australian government’s support to these groups under the excuse of multiculturalism and its support to build and run mosques which act as incubators for terrorist Islamic groups
