First of May, international solidarity day
of the working class is around the corner.
It is the workers’ international protest
day against capitaliusm as a political and
social system. It’s the day in which the
workers’ waves unite in the worldwide. Those
waves that sweep away all ethnic, religious,
sectarian, national and racial identities to
declare and chant in one voice ’ No to the
capitalist system, No to wage labour ’.
The working class is going through the most
repulsive economic, political and social
situations due to deep capitalist economic
crisis. Verily tens of millions of workers
were sacked during the past year. And a
ferocious attack is being organized by
various capitalist regimes in the West and
East on workers’ achievements, their
political and civil rights, and their wages.
The percetage of poverty has gone up and
widespread as the number of those living
under poverty line reached half milliard
people whilst the wealth of human society is
building up from the labour of workers
whereas hunger , poverty, and deprivation
among them inched upwards. Verily, the
horrific increase of phenomenons such as
taking drugs, selling body, committing
suicide, organized crime, trade in human
beings, and all other social ordeals condemn
this oppressive capitalist world. The
international bourgeois agreed to get over
the world economic crisis, agreed on unholy
defence of private ownership and its
worn-out regims. They are united against our
movement and the working class despite their
deep political differences and despite
raising false slogans and ethnical, national
and religious identities. They raise these
slogans to mislead and contain working class
movement and oppressed masses. They agreed
on preventing the protests and
demonstrations of the working class.
Whereas in Iraq the workers are not only
threatened with working conditions in terms
of working hours, low wages, lack of social
security,plundering their wealth and the
destinies of the society, but also with their
lives and their existence. Going to work has
become full of danger to a horrendous
extent. The workers gathering areas have
become a direct target for suicidal attacks
and booby traps. The workers of Iraq are the
prime victim of war, occupation, sectarian
conflicts and aggression, and provocation of
ethnic conflicts on old false rotten slogans
of the so-called centralization (centralism)
and decentralization.
The working class and its progressive
movement started to retaliate the attacks
that affect their lives and livelihood
locally and internationally in waves of
millions. The working class in Iraq made
every effort to strive for the deductions
made by Ministry of Finanace that had been
deducted from the subsistence of their
children and families to be payed back. The
working class are raising their pressing and
urgent demands such as freedom of
organisation and strike, a progressive
Labour Law, No to Oil and Gas Act, Securing
the lives of unemployed people by granting
them unemployment allowances, Immediate
abolition of all unfair policies hostile to
the workers among them the policy of
self-finance which is not more than a
disastrous impoverishment policy, Wages
increase apropriate to inflation and
excessive high level of prices, and minimum
pay appropriate to the contemporary human
being’s life.
In this catastrophic situation that Iraq is
going through, the working class should
perceive its historic mission, it should
stand on its own feet. It should compress
its rank, organize and unify its forces in
order to be able to impose its dominance as
a great political and social power leading
the society towards freedom and socialism. A
capable power that could transform the
society in the interest of the whole society
for the benefit of women, the youth, the
poor, and oppressed people.
The working class and its striving movement
are raising its voice by saying: ” No to the
poltical process, No to the current
Government and Constitution, No to ethnic
and sectarian wars”. The alternative for our
classes today is a progressive socialist
alternative which represents real freedom
and equality. The Worker-communist Party of
Iraq stands in the forefront of this
predatory and persistent struggle and calls
upon masses of workers to join its ranks and
to stand side by side in order to terminate
all the current catastrophic situations
under the banner of Marx ” Workers of the
world unite”.
Long live 1st of May, the workers’
international protest and solidarity day.
Long live socialism.
