A day after the great uprising of the Iraqi masses on 25th February 2011, the oppressive forces of the Bagdad Command launched extensive raids across Baghdad to terrorise protesters. The campaign included hospitals were injured people from 25th February were arrested. Malki’s government which constantly claims that it stands by the peaceful mass demonstrations and their just demands heavily punishes its critiques and cracks down on peaceful demonstrations asking for an end to corruption, better electricity, increase minimum wages, respect political and civil freedoms and increase the quality and quantity of ration items. The government spokesman admitted that the demonstrations of 25th February were peaceful and yet they killed and injured scores of demonstrators in Altahrir Square alone!

We in the Worker-communist Party of Iraq strongly condemn the crimes committed against our masses and the youth in Iraq and express our condolence to the families of those who fell in the fight for freedom and bread and wish speedy recovery for all those injured on that day. We demand immediate release of all political prisoners arrested since 3rd of February 2011.  We also demand that the oppressive Baghdad Forces Command be immediately removed from Baghdad and all types of violence and the use of plastic and live ammunition against demonstrations participating in peaceful demonstrations to ask for their daily livelihood and freedom be immediately stopped. We call on all international organizations and trade unions to support the revolution in Iraq and stand beside its youth and workers.

Toward total accomplishment of all our demands!
