March  8th, International Women's Day, is just around the corner.  Verily it is a day in which women, all freedom lovers, and egalitarians confirm that the world which women live in is an unjust world beyond measure. It’s the day in which we will raise the banner of full equality and freedom for women. It’s the day of persistence of this struggle and insistence on this. The Worker-communist Party of Iraq since it was founded, has persisted inputting the issue of defending women’s rights and equality with men in the forefront of its political, social, and legal struggle. Whereas the issue of rights and equality of half of the society with the other half has the utmost importance in the struggle to free the society in Iraq from all kinds of non-existence of rights and inferiority. It’s not possible to talk about the freedom and human rights in a society where more than half of the population are living in a tragic conditions not appropriate for human being in this century. In conditions of slavery, degradation, and violence and murder and even mass killing under different names: in defence of honour, tradition, religion, and custom, none of these justifications could be accepted to violate women’s right. There is no justification whatsoever for a system to remain and for a condition to impose on women a disgusting slavery which its time has passed.

Verily women have being living in an appalling and tragic conditions, since the dictatorial regime of Saddam Hussein then the occupation of Iraq and the dominance of Islamic, Arabic and Kurdish nationalist parties, and the emergence of dark forces that was unprecedented in the scale of the terrorism and antagonism towards women. since the changes in political conditions of Iraq the situation of women got worse and worse starting from imposition of compulsory veil on women to killing of women and depriving them from education due to economic needs in a society deemed to be one of the richest countries in the world. And imposition of the existed Islamic law which is established on the basis of sexual discrimination against women, polygamy, an increase of girls circumcision phenomenon, trafficking in women, the prevalence of selling female’s body, the abduction of women and selling them, killing of women who have been abducted by the militias, women subjected to conditions of economic poverty and subsistence needs that pushed them to live under the poverty line.  The state is not taking the responsibility of the children’s maintenance, especially those who have been deprived of their parents because of war, leaving a heavy burdens on women to provide a living for their children and the family. But in political, social and general fields women have been marginalized to the farthest extent. The retreat of Women’s social and political participation in the society  was imposed. And if it was not the huge combative resistance and   history of women’s struggle and civil society and its secularity, women and their role and place would have been distorted completely in a society plunged into an unprecedented darkness especially in recent years.  The ruling parties and militias backed by the U.S. military machine shackled by the most reactionary traditions and laws are seeking to impose and sustain a dark conditions for women and in the economic, social, legal and civil rights fields. The conditions that women are living in are neither sustainable nor durable and must be changed. Women could have their rights and a better life, because of the resources of the society and the abundance of wealth which ensure a well-off life for women and even for the whole society . The Worker-communist Party of the Iraqi affirms to women in Iraq that the miserable reality could be changed through mass struggle which the overwhelming equality women's movement involves in. The movement which is a place for all freedom lover’s women and men in order to end the U.S. presence which is the support and ally of the reactionary Islamic forces and to overthrow the Islamic government, militias, and constitution that tightening the grip around the society in Iraq and humiliating women in particular. This could be done only by coming around and joining the ranks of the party and strengthening a striving relationship with the party.

The Worker-communist Party  places itself in the first row and the first faction in putting an end to the Islamic government and the Islamic Constitution and  bringing about a secular government in which passing a law first and before anything else the separation of religion from the state bringing an end to the interference of religion in personal and civil life of women, emancipating women  from exhausting economic burden which is one of the onerous duties and  responsibilities of the state and providing a living for children, which is the duty of the state and they are not women’s duties. Freeing women from the laws that treat them as a second-class citizens to ensure the freedom of separation, the equal right of inheritance and custody of children in the event of separation, and categorical prohibition of polygamy and all religious forms and contracts of marriage.

. This is the struggle of the Worker-communist Party of Iraq in order to secure equal rights and freedoms of women with men. We call upon women to organize themselves in various forms of organizations to defend their rights and undoubtedly the Worker-communist Party of Iraq is their supporter, struggler, the first defender of their rights. The Worker-Communist Party has put onto its shoulder the task of struggle for socialist revolution and establishment of Socialist Republic on the debris of the capitalist system, the abolition of wage labour and private property which is a revolution that bears in its mind the freedom of women, their rights and aspirations and prepares all the material requirements for their emancipation from all forms of oppression, delusions and former reactionary identities among them the male dominated system up until now.

Worker-communist Party of Iraq is calling women to join the party to struggle in its ranks as a fundamental guarantee in order to bring about the pursued changes in freedom and equality and the well-being of women. Long live the struggle of women for freedom and equality. Long live the 8th of March the International Women's Day.
