Statement by the politburo of the Worker Communist Party of Iraq regarding the recent bombarding of the Iraqi masses by the US

The George W. Push’s administration carries on the bloody policy of the US government regarding the Iraqi masses as once again they had bombarded the Iraqi masses for two hours. By this it maintains the same policy, which bases on killing, starving, genocide and the sanction, which has been imposed on millions in Iraq for the last 10 years.

To assert its dominance in the world and to protect its interests in the region, the US has warrant its anti- human policy, bombing, starving the Iraqi masses during the last 10 year by different excuses like to liberate Kuwait and protect the Gulf sheiks, to get rid of the dictator regime in Iraq, protect the human rights or to build a democratic regime on the American style in Iraq! Their latest attack is continuation of their barbaric policy and their excuses are new lies which cannot be taken seriously by anybody.

The so- called “no fly zones”, the US defends are fertilized lands for different reactionary forces including Islamic and nationalist forces which the masses have suffered a lot under the rule of their militia whither Kurdish or Islamic due to the internal war and causing starvation, homelessness, mass immigration, issuing Fatwas, launching genocide against women, due to intervention of the regional countries, putting the destiny of 5 millions in the hands of tribal gangs and absence of all aspects of civic life under the heaven of these so- called “safe  or no fly zones”.

This outright arrogance is evidence on the fatal failure of the US and British policies in the region as they are unable to protect the sanction against violations. The closest allies initiated this violation. The historical allies do not see the bombardment of Iraq, which continued for last 10 years legitimate anymore. This arrogance reflects failure and absence of perspective to maintain its leadership to the notorious western alliance. The alliance, which has broken during the last 10 years, was unable to provide any stability to the system but we witnessed during their era genocides and collapse of a society as a whole under their policy of starving, killing and displacement.

Bombarding the Iraqi masses, which result in announcement of emergency status by the Iraqi regime, gives this regime another opportunity to impose more oppression, deprivation. It gives the regime another excuse to deny its obligations towards the masses and their demands. The bombardment means more hunger, soaring of prices and more oppression.

Liberation of the Iraqi masses from the regime, which has caused enormous tragedies and pain during last three decades, cannot be brought on the wings of the US warplanes, or through the resolution of “liberation of Iraq” which is signed by the Iraqi bourgeois opposition with the murderers of the Iraqi masses. Overthrowing the regime and fighting against the US policy in the same time can achieve it.

The Worker Communist Party of Iraq condemns the barbarism of the US government and demands immediate ending of the bombing and all kinds of military intervention by the US and demands that the entire policy of America towards Iraq to be condemned.

The Worker Communist Party of Iraq uses all its ability to impose a retreat on the US and to end its policy towards Iraq. In the same times the WCPI struggles to liberate the Iraqi masses from the conflict between America and the regime by overthrowing this regime and building a socialist republic.

Support the struggle to achieve the demands of the workers of Tobacco Company in Suleimanyia- Iraq

The administration of the tobacco factory which, belongs to the ministry of industry and energy, of the PUK’s government, issued an order which turn more than 1500 workers of this company to the reserve (working force). By this, the administration has cut down 200 dinar (the Iraqi currency) from each of the workers. According to this order the Laid off workers will only get the official salary, which in best cases does not exceed 150 dinar. So the workers have lost all the concession and rewards. The administration has justified this, as usual, by slow down of the production.

This is part of wider measures by the PUK, which aim to slash the concessions and rewards, and deny any responsibility towards the rights and demands of the workers.

The working- class in Iraqi Kurdistan has suffered badly from poverty and deprivation under the rule of Kurdish nationalist and Islamic parties for the last 10 years. Every now and then hundreds of workers are sacked and their factories are shut down, The wages have reached the lowest level ever, so that, the monthly salary is enough to keep a family alive for few days only. Jobs are for the members and supporters of the ruling parties only. The leaders and activists are continuously harassed and they are targets for different kinds of oppression.

Workers everywhere!

Workers of cement, textile, roads, health, municipality, water system and power!

Workers of private section!

Unemployed!

Your comrades, the sacked workers of Tobacco Company, are in dire need of your support. The policy of sacking workers, and servants, Imposing the worst working conditions on them, forcing workers to accept trivial wages under the horrible economic and political conditions in Iraqi Kurdistan which is politically unstable have become the actual and serious policies of the ruling Kurdish parties. The only way, which enables the workers to fight back against these campaigns and anti- workers policies, is by uniting and solidarity. Adhere of the workers to the organisations at the working and living places is not only necessary to stop the campaigns of working-class enemies but its vital to achieve their social and economical aims. Another important issue, the leaders of our class have to struggle for is the support and solidarity of their comrades worldwide. We have to gain the support of the leftist, worker and communist organisations and parties.

The Worker Communist party of Iraq will do all in its power to achieve this task as one of the important tasks to win the demands of Tobacco Company.

Long lives the struggle of working class for a better world.

CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF NAWAL ELSAADAWI - COPIES OF LETTERS OF PROTEST

The message below was sent to the following addresses:

Hosni Mobarak, The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt
Farouk Seif Al Nasr, Minister of Justice
Maher Abdel Wahab, General Prosecutor
Copy sent to The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Canberra,
Australia

I am writing to express my shock and dismay that the State has responded to
an appeal supported by the Mufti of Egypt to have Nawal Elsaadawi tried for
blasphemy against Islam in the Cairo Personal Status Court, with the court
hearing scheduled for 18 June.  The legal action was initiated with the
intention of securing a Court ruling to annul the marriage of Doctor Sherif
Hetata and Nawal Elsaadawi.  The Mufti was following the allegations made
by an article which distorted an interview with Nawal Elsaadawi, including
ridiculous and untrue allegations that Nawal Elsaadawi advocates polyandry.
I understand that the law of Hisba circumscribes the beliefs and expression
of the individual to a very narrow field, and prevails in only one of the
three schools of Islam.  It punishes a whole family for the actions of a
single individual whom it holds to have transgressed religion which in this
particular case has been defined by sets of observances rather than belief
in the faith, and God, or else help to the community.

Moreover, allowing such a case to go ahead would sow divisions within the
faith itself by persecuting various traditions within the faith.  Nawal
Elsaadaw's faith has been much influenced by her father.  He was a
religious scholar of the Sufi school of Islam, whose practise is ancient
but somewhat different from majority Sunni practise.

The action is also a violation of internationally accepted norms of human
rights, and goes to the heart of the most basic of those rights.  The
action is a flagrant violation of Article 12 of The Universal Declaration
of Human Rights which specifies there shall be no interference in the lives
of couples and of Articles 18,19 and 23 of the International Charter on
Civil and Political Rights and other such international agreements which
consider the rights of women to be integral to human rights.

Any consent to the Mufti's request would also clearly contradict Egypt's
own Constitution.  Firstly it flatly rejects Article 40 of the Constitution
which says that 'all citizens are considered equal before the law; and that
they have the same rights and obligations, and should not be discriminated
against on the basis of their gender, race, language or belief.  Hisba goes
against this because it can only be raised by male and Muslim persons.
Moreover such action defies Article 46 of the Constitutional guarantee of
freedom of belief, and Article 47 statement that freedom of opinion is the
right of all individuals and that every one should have the right to
express their opinion in full freedom whether orally, in writing or in
images or any other form of expression

Therefore I ask that your government may respond to international appeals for:

1. The State to overturn the current initiation of the Hisba procedure
as a means of separating Doctor Sherif Hetata and Nawal Elsaadawi as
husband and wife

4. That the system called Hisba be abolished and that Egyptian laws be
amended so that they provide full protection and freedom to produce
creative and intellectual works in all spheres of endeavour including
scientific research and creative writing.

5. That the International Agreement on the Abolition of all Forms of
Discrimination Against Women be applied as an integral part of Egypt's
judicial system.

Yours faithfully 13/81 Bimberi Crescent

Let’s Shatter the American Siege on Iraqis

11 Years of Oppressive Economic Sanctions Against Iraq

 11 years of sanctions and:

The workers and toilers of Iraq have been exposing to waves of hunger, unemployment and tragedies affecting hundreds of thousands of people taking democracy, human rights and ousting the regime as a plea.  Wide spreading diseases have been affecting children and pregnant women while death is a threat to other hundreds of thousands. The United Nations according to the American and Western policies continues its bombardment and starvation on a daily basis against the Iraqis, and iterates Hiroshima and Alanfal disasters.  And the eventual outcome is the annihilation of more than a million Iraqis so far.

 11 years of sanctions and:

The Islamic and nationalist parties with the Iraqi bourgeois opposition have been making use of the starvation, prevalent unemployment, low wages, and mass lay-off of workers as a daily political reality of the people in Iraq.

The lack of health, social and other services has become a pivot of the conflict amongst the Baath regime, U.S. and the West.  The Baath government has dismissed thousands of working women and forced them to stay home and raise children as their only responsibilities.  As a result, women have become victims of the reactionaries who enforce atmospheres of oppression, terror and brutality on every day life.

 11 years of sanctions and:

The capitalist Baath regime has been taking advantage of the economic sanctions as an excuse to justify unemployment, oppression, and absence of civil and social laws of the people in Iraq.

All freedom defenders all over the world!

All the humanitarian and labour organizations and trade unions!

Voice your rejection against the most tragic crimes of the history and the mass genocide the U.S., the United Nations and the West have carried out against the people of Iraq.  All freedom seekers should not stay silent in front of these barbaric and brutal massacres which are being committed against the people of Iraq.  You are the people and organizations who defended the social, political and civil laws of the people in Kurdistan, disclosed the Baath regime’s crimes and stood up against the bombing of people in Iraq by the U.S. and the West.

The time has come for your serious solidarity with the people in Iraq to abolish the economic sanctions and put an end to the American and western domination that impose starvation, deprivation of medication and the basic requirements of life.

On the 11th anniversary of imposing the economic sanctions on Iraq, let’s unite our ranks against this brutal policy and take a serious step to stop the sanctions.  Let’s chant together

“ No to economic sanctions against Iraq

Unconditional lifting of the economic sanctions”.

The Worker Communist Party of Iraq is holding numerous political activities and events all over the world with the participation of other parties and organizations.  On August 6, 2001, huge rallies will be marched in front of the American embassies in Europe, Australia, North America and other countries to announce our protest and indignation against this barbaric policy and to stop it.

We call upon all of you to stand for strengthening the humanitarian front to put an end to the American arrogance and mass killing against the people in Iraq.

Long-live the movement to lift the economic sanctions on Iraq

Long-live the Socialist Republic

RAISE YOUR VOICE OF PROTEST AGAINST THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC’S BRUTAL POLICY OF REMOVING IRAQIS AND AFGHANIS FROM IRAN.

As a part of a broader campaign by the Islamic Republic of Iran against Iraqi and Afghani refugees, the governor of Khozistan has announced recently, that his government will start the immediate removal of those who fail to report to the security authorities. He has set 15th Sept. 2001 as a deadline for “foreigners” to make contact with the police in order to start their removal on 16th Sept.2001. Moreover, the government has imposed severe penalties against everyone who “employs illegal foreign workers”.  Undoubtedly, as a consequence of this, thousands of Iraqis will be put at the risk of forcible removal from Iran. Not only that, but also at risk of death.

The Islamic regime, which is the regime of bloody terror and despotism, suppressing civil and political rights and liberties and the regime of sexual, religious and racial discrimination, throws those refugees after denying them food, into the claws of the most savage governments and gangsters. It does that with total disregard to the dangers of torture, excution and death that those refugees will face.

At the hands of this regime, the refugees have been experiencing the severest kinds of racist discrimination, the denial of their rights and entitlements to well-fare services and the constant violation of their personal decency and liberties. In addition, the society has been fuelled with national and racial hatred and the refugees have been portrayed as the cause of “deprivations and unemployment of the Iranian workers”, the “killers of the Iranian youth” and “the source of spreading drugs, immorality and thievery”. On top of that, they have been exposed to the harshest kinds of exploitation as the lowest paid workers with the longest hours of work and also driven by poverty to accept the most hazardous and hardest of jobs. And for some, no much choice is left in order to survive but to serve the mafia like Islamic parties,  urge their own daughters to accept al-Muta marriage (the Islamic form of prostitution) to clergy men, or sell some of their body organs such as their kidneys to the Gulf sheikhs for the cheapest price. The daily harassments by the religious police and the Guards army have to be added to complete the picture.

This fascist move by the Islamic Republic against the refugees violates the most elementary human rights and puts thousands of people face to face with the danger of death or execution.

All freedom advocates in Iran and world wide!

Workers, socialists and human rights parties and organizations!

Oppositional parties and organizations to the Islamic Republic!

This attack is a fascist policy, it is tailored to distract the attention from the disastrous consequences of the regime’s rule over the Iranian masses. The regime tries through fascist Islamic propaganda, to obscure the facts from the workers and toilers of Iran by portraying the Iraqi and the Afghani refugees as the cause of their starvation and poverty. In other words, the Islamic regime is not only targeting Iraqi and Afghani refugees but also targeting the Iranian masses. This has to be opposed and made unworkable by advocates of freedom in Iran and worldwide.

Add your voice to the voices of the Iraqi refugees, reinforce your solidarity and expose the regime’s lies. The regime’s hands are stained with the blood of 150 thousand honest, freedom advocate and radical humans. It is the main obstacle in front of Iranian masses well being and their struggle for a better life. Defying this move is a step forward in the struggle to overthrow this regime.

The worker communist party of Iraq strongly condemns this attack. We call upon all labour, socialist, freedom loving and human rights organizations, parties and individuals to resist this attack and build up pressure on the Iranian regime to recognize the rights of refugees for a decent life and residency in Iran and equal treatment as the citizens of the country.

Down with the policies of the Islamic Republic!

Long live freedom and equality!

RACISM AND FASCISM ARE NOT

THE ANSWERS TO TERRORISM

While the humanity is still grieving in the aftermath of the New York and Washington disaster of September 11, a wave of blind religious and nationalist racism have emerged initiating terrorism and bloodshed. Reports from America and European countries have confirmed that many innocents Muslims, people from the Middle East, veiled women, migrant children, the mosques and many educational and social centers have become targets for racist and fascist attacks under the excuse of fighting terrorism. Many of these innocent people are afraid to go out or go to work and hence forced to stay at home isolated, in prison-like situations. Similarly, the lives of many Americans, Europeans and Jewish and Christian minorities who are living in Arab countries or those ruled by Islamic governments are endangered by a similar mood of fascism and blind retaliation. In this way, the civil rights and dignity of both sides are violated by this nationalist and religious racist confrontation.

However, these racist and fascist attacks and the violation of civil rights of people are the outcomes of the policies of the leaders of the US and Europe as well as Arab nationalist and Islamic countries and their propaganda institutions. On the one hand, western countries are provoking racism and creating a climate of war and homicide against defenseless citizens in these countries, through raising the flag of nationalism, defending the Torah and the Church and under the excuse of eradicating terrorism. On the other hand, the Arab and Islamic countries and terrorist Islamic groups threaten tourists, western workers , Jews, Christians and non- Muslims who live under their rule and endanger their lives, under the banner of Islam and the Qur’an and the excuse of fighting imperialism, Godless America and Europe and fighting Zionism,.

This hostility and conflict among reactionary countries and racist groups and movements not only opposes peoples’ wishes and dreams for a peaceful life, but also, derides human lives and grossly violates the human dignity, civil and individual rights and liberties of people as citizens in the society. It puts the humanity’s fate in the hands of forces of blind retaliation, homicide and nationalist and religious hostility.

Racism, fascism, nationalist and religious fighting is not the means to end oppression and suppression of human beings. In fact, the only way out is finding a humane and civil way to protect the human rights including the right to live for all humans regardless of their place of birth and their religion and nationality. The people in the US have dealt with last week’s disaster with admirable dignity and humane manner. They have shown that the wish for retaliation, fascist and racist actions based on religion and nationalism are only actions of the states and their hired reactionary groups.

Attacking innocent people for being Muslims, Christians, Jews or foreigners is condemned and it is nothing more than violating the civil rights of human beings and their rights as citizens. The humanity should not remain silent towards them.

The Worker communist party of Iraq calls on all progressive people to struggle for finding a free, equal and humane society where human right, dignity and their well- being are valued. It calls for effective and practical ways to fight all kinds of terrorism by organizing a powerful international movement which can mobilize the masses of people in defense of the human rights of all.

Worker communist party of Iraq calls on all freedom lovers, progressive people, political parties and organizations supporting the human rights, trade unions to take action and stand against terrorism, racism, fascism and warmongering in defense of the entire humanity.

Long live freedom, equality, workers’ rule

Down with terrorism, racism and fascism

Why did we withdraw?

A  statement by Moayed Ahmad and Dashti Jamal

( previous members of StWC  Interim Steering Committee)

At the Stop the War Coalition (St WC) conference held in London on 28-10-2001, we presented our own aims and objectives as an alternative to those of the StWC.

However, our platform did not get enough votes to win in that conference. Consequently, the StWC platform remained almost the same old one i.e “stop the war”, “no to racism and civil liberties restrictions” with the addition of a formal condemnation of the terrorist attack of 11th Sept. on New York. Hence the StWC chose not to say anything against Islamic terrorism, adopting a platform devoid of any condemnation of political Islam, its states and organizations as a pole in the ongoing bloody conflict between the two poles of international terrorism.

The political practices that this view leads to are: first, the abandonment of the plight of hundreds of millions of people in the Middle East and the Islam-ridden countries under the yoke of political Islam. Second, the disengagement with the on-going struggle for freedom, equality and well-being by the working class, the communists, the women, the socialists, the radical and secular people and freedom lovers in those countries. Finally, lining up with the savage Talibans and the likes of Political Islam in their struggle for power in those countries and on the international level.

We made clear during the conference that we would not accept that, and that any silence about Islamic terrorism and political Islam in the current conflict is practically taking sides with political Islam. Therefore, we decided to withdraw from the Interim Steering Committee of the StWC and to campaign for our views and to work on organising a more principled and ambitious movement.

We believe that a principled and ambitious move for freedom, equality, justice and well-fare is possible and that growing opposition against both poles of state and non-state terrorism is what millions of people in the west and the rest of the world would like to see. One important step in the way towards mobilizing the masses and a real broad based campaign of the freedom lovers and the working class, the women and the progressive people especially in the west is to draw clear lines between ourselves and the backward populist ideas and views that the Intellectual left in the west has already adopted and propagated for. The views that politically suggest allying with political Islam.

In fact, there is no consistent political argument by the left as to why not condemn political Islam and the atrocities of this pole of terrorism. The “anti-imperialist” thesis is a major excuse in this regard. However, this thesis has become a tool in the hands of the intellectual left for defending the slaughter and the appalling status qua of the masses, in particular the working class and the women, in the Middle East and the Islam-ridden countries. The left tells us that adopting a radical view towards Islamism enhances racism in the west, but this is a backward view of the worst kind. It advocates enslaving generations in Asian and Middle-Eastern communities under the yoke of Islam and denies them the right to have secularism and universal human values and rights. As a matter of fact this originates from the great setback in the socialist views of the left rather than their concerns about racism.

IN DEFENCE OF WOMEN IN AFGHANISTAN

More than two decades of civil war between criminal, drug dealing Islamic groups and Islamic rule - supported militarily and politically by reactionary regional and Western governments led by the USA - has destroyed any sign of civilisation in Afghanistan and degraded particularly women to slave status.  With the fall of the Taliban in Afghanistan, Western governments are conspiring to establish another Islamic and ethnic government in that country.  A powerful international front of progressive people, organisations and defenders of women’s rights can defeat this conspiracy and prevent the formation of another anti-woman and inhuman Islamic government in Afghanistan.  We must ensure that the women of Afghanistan enjoy full civil rights and a life worthy of 21st century humanity.

The following Declaration on Women's Rights in Afghanistan is an attempt to gather support for the abolishment of all criminal and reactionary laws against women and for the improvement of women's status in Afghanistan.  We call on all human rights, women's and socialist organisations and freedom loving people to sign the Declaration on Women's Rights in Afghanistan and contribute to the formation of a powerful international front in defence of secularism and women’s rights. The people and women of Afghanistan deserve the unconditional support of progressive people all over the world.

DECLARATION ON WOMEN'S RIGHTS IN AFGHANISTAN

More than two decades of the rule of Taliban and various Islamic groups in Afghanistan has made the lives of women intolerable.  Under the yoke of reactionary, murderous Islamic gangs, women are denied the most basic human rights and any attempt by them to improve their lot has been crushed by torture, prison, execution, stoning, lashing, rape and indescribable violence.  To end this brutality, any post-Taliban government must recognise the following minimum rights:

  1. An end to Islamic rule and the establishment of a secular government;
  2. Complete and immediate abolishment of sexual apartheid;
  3. The immediate abolishment of compulsory veiling.  The recognition of freedom of dress;
  4. Prohibition of torture, execution, lashing, retribution and other Islamic punishments;
  5. Equality of men and women;
  6. Recognition of women's civil liberties including the right to work, education, travel and divorce;
  7. Recognition of the freedom of activity of women’s rights organisations in Afghanistan.

The Canadian Government Launches Attack on Human Rights

Governments around the world have exploited the conflict between the American and Islamic terrorism to justify the oppressive atmosphere and confiscate the basic human rights.  The Canadian government that possesses nothing other than its claimed democracy to be proud of has started rolling this democracy back for the security and safety of the society.

The Canadian government as other western governments has unleashed the Islamic movements, funded them and enacted laws to encounter the left wing and confront the progressive socialist movements during the cold war.  Today, following September 11 attack, governments have begun their attacks on the basic human rights in their countries while the progressive and secular movements in the countries known as Islamic suffered to establish these rights against the Islamists and nationalists.

If the Canadian government intends to maintain the civil society and its security and safety, it must:

1.                     Withdraw Bill C-36, Bill C-11 and C-24.

2.                     Integrate the communities coming from Islamic countries with the Canadian society by abolishing the multiculturalism and presenting social and cultural programs to accomplish the integration.

3.                     Stop the financial support to the Islamic organizations and observe their activities which involve intimidating children, imposing veil, discrimination between males and females, inferior treatment of woman and disrespect for human beings by spreading superstitious and backward ideas and beliefs such as describing suicide bombers as martyrs.

4.                     Support the secular and progressive movements that struggle against religion, ignorance and backward traditions and create a society where religion separated from the state.

The above is the program of the Worker Communist Party of Iraq in Canada to all Canadians and all the forces who struggle for a better world and civilized society.

Down with all inhumane policies

Forward for a better world

Palestinian state should be recognized immediately!

The Palestinian people have been under the most savage attacks by the Israeli army since the start of the second uprising 15 months ago. They have been systematically denied the right of liberation from Israeli rule and occupation and the right to have an independent state.

In the aftermath of the tragic events of Sept 11th, while the world was preoccupied with the atrocities committed by the Islamic terrorists in the US, Ariel Sharon and his government started to invest on that tragedy immediately. They started a new series of crimes and state run terrorism against the Palestinian people, besieging their cities, re-occupying areas under the control of the Palestinian Authorities.

Those provocative terrorist policies are, at present, normal daily practices of the Israeli government and its troops and the only official way that Israel and the US provide for resolving the conflict. The easy victories the US achieved against the Taliban have dramatically strengthened these colonial and criminal policies. As a result of all that, a new round of savage terrorist suicidal attacks has already started in Israel by the Islamists of Hamas and al–Jihad and the hope for finalizing the establishment of Palestinian state has virtually evaporated.

Nothing can justify the mass murder of the Palestinians and the colonization of Palestine for more than three decades and nothing can justify the mass murder of innocent people of Israel. Above all, this bloody race of terrorism and killing in the Middle- East has put the whole region at the brink of a disaster. All this should be stopped. The starting point in realising this is to have the Palestinian state established immediately and Palestinian issue resolved politically. The establishment of the Palestinian state is an achievable goal and provides a more suitable environment for the struggle for a better world in the whole region.

The Worker Communist Party of Iraq has started a campaign in support of the Palestinian people and their right of establishing an independent state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. We call upon freedom and equality lovers, trade unions, all human right organizations and individuals, the left and progressive people to press on both Israel and the US in support of the Palestinian rights. The following rights and demands should urgently be met:

Immediate end to the Israeli attacks and bloodshed against the Palestinians.

Immediate recognition of the Palestinian state on the whole of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

State and non-state terrorism of Israel and the Islamists like Hamas and al-Jihad are strongly condemned and must be stopped.

The right of return (al-Awda) for Palestinian refugees has to be guaranteed.

Support the struggle of the people in the region for secularism, civil and political liberties.

You should either Go through Fire Line or Commit a Suicide!!

Being an asylum seeker is a source for facing problems.Being the person who needs UNHCR’ help in Turkey is enough to see many tragedies.

The tragedy of the lives of Iraqi and Kurdish asylum seekers in Turkey is as clear as the sun which at the same time burns the lives of innocent children, ill people and all those who are put in the prolonged waiting hall .

UNHCR does not easily grant people asylum and thus lead people to go through the ways full of mines or the slubbed lines just to illegally enter the third country.

UNHCR does not care about the life of people and easily looks at the death of them.

On 27/1/2002 an Iraqi asylum seeker in Van city named, Akil Zainul Abidin with file no.Z- 927, committed suicide because he has been waiting for five years to be recognised as a refugee and the Turkish authorities ordered for his being deported, so death was the only answer for his hopes and wishes. This is not the first sample of obliging people either to go through the fire line or commit suicide; as happened on 16thAugust,01 that an Iranian asylum seeker named, Abbas Ali Mighdady born in 1968 threw himself from a three-floor apartment down and died, Mustafa Rashidy put himself with his children under a car in front of UNHCR gate and then he was arrested….and so on.

UNHCR is to be condemned about all these indifferences towards asylum seekers.

We always told UNHCR to take the deportation decision of Tukish authorities in consideration and even in our last meeting with the responsible of the legal unit in UNHCR in Ankara, we confirmed about that. But they easily justified that since these asylum seekers’ files are closed, they will not do anything for them.

Is this the responsibility of saving those people who escaped from the killing threat?!

The suicide of Akil is the tragedy that upheaves the emotion of anyone whose conscience is awaken. This needs  a human stance, this should make UNHCR change its policy and be more serious in saving people not look at them dying!

May all the humanity front press UNHCR so as to stop the tragedy of the asylum seekers in Turkey.

LET’S STOP THE WAR OF SHARON’S TERRORIST GOVERNMENT AGAINST PALESTINIANS IMMEDIATELY….

As a part of the continuous terrorist and aggressive action against the people of Palestine, the terrorist government of Sharon has launched a bloody, destructive war in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. It imposed a blockade and bombardment on the cities and villages in the occupied territories, demolished houses, schools, killed tens, and displaced hundreds of Palestinians, and even surrounded and destroyed the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority and its president Yassir Arrafat.

While initiatives of ending violence and resorting to peace to put an end to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict are suggested to the Israeli government, the latter carries out its most hideousness and savagery action against the people of Palestine under the pretext of "WAR AGAINST TERRORISM", and this proves that Sharon’s government is the main source of terrorism, destruction and insecurity in the area.

The continuation of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land is none but the perpetuating of the Israeli scenario of killing, demolishing, and further blood shed of the innocent Palestinians. This will just feed the continuation of terrorism and killing between Palestinians and Israelis, and it will give golden opportunities to religious terrorist groups, both Islamic and Jewish movements, to practice their terrorist actions by killing innocent people from both sides.

The establishment and founding of the independent Palestinian state is the sole route for shriving peace in the region. Keeping the peace depends on escalation and intensification of struggle, and immediate interference of the progressive, left, and peace-loving people in Israel to get rid of the terrorist government of Sharon and all kinds of right wing-religious governments, and recognition of the right of Palestinians to establish their own independent state. Thus the people of both states can enjoy the right of citizenship in their own territories and live in peace.

While we, in the Worker-communist Party of Iraq, condemn the savagery actions of Sharon’s terrorist government and call upon its immediate halt, we appeal for all the parties, organizations, governments, and world public opinion to put pressure on the Israeli government to stop the bully attacks, to end the blockade on the people of Gaza Strip and West Bank, to immediately recognize the founding on independent Palestinian state, and to put an end to all kind of war, violence, terrorism and bloodshed.

Long live Mayday,
the day of international workers' solidarity!

The capitalist world is an inverted world full of inequality and oppression. Not one day passes without an attack by the capitalists and their governments on the workers. Not one day passes without a new attempt to further deprive the producers of humanity’s wealth, to deprive those who create humanity’s prosperity and development. By closing factories and production enterprises, by laying-off workers, by undermining social security and services, by increasing working hours and reducing wages, by replacing collective contracts with individual contracts, by introducing new laws that undermine the rights of workers to organize, picket, demonstrate and hold public gatherings and by removing workers’ rights won during centuries of heroic struggle by the working class, we see the rampant implementation of the agenda of the bourgeoisie.

The word "worker" has become synonymous with deprivation yet the situation of unemployed workers is much more disastrous and their lot in capitalist society is one of poverty, starvation and deprivation.

Yet it is the workers’ toil that provides the excessive riches of society’s parasites. Their accumulating wealth, and profits is at the expense of the vast majority of people on our planet.
What kind of system is the one, which cannot maintain itself without forty thousand children, starving to death everyday? What kind of system is one which can not stand on its feet without forcing tens of millions of women to work in the sex industry as the only mean to support their children and families? What can we expect from a system, which cannot maintain its ominous life without grinding the tender bodies of tens of millions of children through child labour? What a disastrous system is the one, which makes millions of children, already living in poverty, destitution, ignorance and illiteracy, pawns for nationalist, religious, sectarian and tribal wars in Africa, Asia and Latin America! What system is this which forces millions of youth to drug addiction to escape the hell created by it? What kind of system is the one, which survives only through wars, sanctions and ethnic cleansing, creating new layers of dispossessed people in different parts of the world every year?

But it is obvious that those phenomenons are showing only one part of the reality. The other part is the growing and determined resistance by the workers, despite the pressure and fierce attacks by the ruling class. The most recent examples are the strike of 13 million workers in Italy; the demonstrations of workers in Argentina who through class courage and strong mobilization overthrew one government after the other. The demonstration of workers in Geneva, and Etoboury against the capitalist politicians of the world and before this the protests in Russia, Germany, Turkey and France prove everyday that our class is alive and powerful. This is the force, which will change the world and save humanity from the dark future of capitalist crisis.

Comrades!
Freedom and equality loving masses!
How long should we stay prisoners of capitalist greed? How long should we toil and suffer to swell the pockets of capitalists and then be thrown out with little or no security during the system’s crises? This system needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history. This system along with its parties, politicians, governments, parliaments, criminals and dictators (the defenders of capital), oppressive apparatus, clergies, journalists and " neutral" media men and women must be swept away. It is impossible to achieve humanity’s happiness and prosperity without removing this system and all its defenders and apologists.

It is obvious for all of humanity that the dignity of individuals in society and the rights, social security and liberties they deserve are linked to the strength and unity of the workers. The degree and access to human rights are directly linked to the status of workers in society and the development of the working class. In contemporary society where workers are divided and deprived of rights and liberties, we hear no discussion of providing any kind of social security and social liberties.

Mayday is the day when the voices of conscious workers are raised. It is a day for all of humanity, all the deprived peoples, all the children who dream of a better life, all women who strive for equality, every young person who seeks a world without reactionary and anti- human ethics, all of us who dream of a world full of prosperity, hope, happiness, freedom and equality. It is a day for us to raise our voices for a new world to be built on the rubble of this rotten system.

Mayday is the day when conscious workers stand against capitalists and their politicians and governments, be they western parliamentary dictatorships or the absolute dictatorships of countries like Iraq, Syria, and Iran. It is the day when conscious workers stand against the capitalists’ obedient and submissive media. It is a day when the working class announces that a new era must begin, an era of human dignity, equality, and freedom.

For the workers in Iraq, Mayday is the day to demand the immediate end of inhumane economic sanctions and the immediate end to US militarism against the people in Iraq. It is a day to demand the repeal of the Hussein regime’s resolution, which changed the status of all workers in Iraq to public servants. It is the day to demand the introduction of a progressive labour legislation. It is the day to demand the right of workers to organize strikes and hold demonstrations. It is the day to demand the increase of wages and other social and political rights. These rights represent the way forward in advancing their struggle to overthrow the fascist Ba`ath regime and build the socialist alternative.

Long live May Day!
Long live workers’ internationalism!
Long live the socialist republic!

In Support of Iraqi Workers,

Call for Driving the Baath Regime Representatives out of the Conference of ILO!

In accordance with International Labor Organisation (ILO)’s appeal, the fascist Baath regime has been given the right to take part in the Annual Meeting of this organization representing the Iraqi workers under the name of General Trade Unions of Iraqi Workers. The admittance and summoning the representatives of the Baath regime by the ILO is a step taken against workers of Iraq and the recognition of suppression that is being conducted and run by this brutal and rabid capitalist regime.

The Baath regime is apparently an anti-workers government which constantly resorted to all means of terror, assassination, imprisonment, execution of workers activists, military aggression, bloodletting response to workers protest and strikes, militarizing the work’s conditions, the threat of being dismissed, and deduction of workers wages, to crush the workers and their struggle. All these are Baath regime’s known characters that have been pursued against workers.

Under the rule of Baath regime, workers do not enjoy any kind of labour law that recognize the minimum rights and demands of the workers. The right to organize and the right to strike are prohibited and to elect the workers’ representatives to sort out problems between the workers and employers is considered as political crime against the regime. This regime has wiped off the working class in Iraq due to a decree converted all workers to state servants and by this the regime has repudiated the state sector’s workers identity and turned them, as state servants, to be captive of the government’s servants law. Accordingly, a basic protest is considered as disobedience.

General trade unions of Iraqi workers, in the view of the workers, has no legitimacy and does not represent Iraqi workers, but it is rather a spying apparatus of Baath regime on workers and a suppressive and clashing tool against workers struggle.

TRADE UNIONS AND WORKERS ORGANISATIONS!

WORKERS SUPPORTERS ORGANIZATIONS AND PARTIES!

Stand up to those realities and facts, support Iraqi workers, protest in any way viable and feasible and call for:

1-      The Baath regime not to be allowed to take part in the Annual Meeting of ILO. This regime has no legitimacy and has no right of representing workers of Iraq by no means.

2-      The International Labour Organisation to condemn the violations of the Baath regime pertaining to the right and guilds freedom of working class in Iraq.

Sending your protest letters and putting forward your demands to the offices of ILO and the representatives participating in the Annual meeting is a support to the struggle and the future of Iraqi workers for a human life.

Inhibit Terrorism and Freedom Assaulting!

Freedom-loving people, the worker, left and progressive parties!

At the very beginning of the brutal attacks of Sharoon’s racist government against the Palestinian innocent people, Worker-Communist Party of Iraq, has declared its clear position and tried to gain the support of the freedom-loving people of the world for the most practical and just resolution of the issue, which was to exert pressure on the government of Sharoon for the immediate withdrawal of its troops, stopping war and the recognition of the Palestinian independent state.

We believe that, the scarce barbarism of Sharoon’s government as; collective killing of people, arresting the youth and elders aged 14 to 40, demolishing the residences of people and the civil foundations, re-occupying more areas…. etc., gave a golden chance to the Islamic currents to react by terrorist actions and suicide bombarding against the civil and innocent people of Israel. Undoubtedly the continuous oppression and iniquity on people created a very immense and deep remonstrating among them. But the Hitler alike crimes of Sharoon and the racist government of Israel aided the Islamist groups to justify their suicide deeds under the pretext of Palestinian’s woes.

To end terrorism and shrive peace in Palestine and Israel, the Palestinian independent state should be founded. That is the launching step.

While we were announcing this stance and, with our separate slogans, took part in the demonstrations organized every Saturdays in Oslo, some of those Islamist groups became disturbed. Despite of their attempt to bring obstacles to our team when distributing the leaflets, they started to threaten our comrades. On 28/04 and 05/05/02, they openly told our comrades; “It will be dangerous for you if you continue distributing your papers and yourselves bear the responsibility. So stop doing that”!

In fact this stance of the Islamist sides is neither new nor strange. Wherever they rule or have power, whether depending on law or not, they assassinated their opponents, violated freedom, assaulted the respect of human beings in general and especially women and children, they often declared religious decision “Fatwa” and killed the freedom -loving and progressive people. Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Kurdistan are just some samples of that fact.

But they should not be allowed to assault freedom and to threat people in the deep of Europe.

The participants in the anti war front,

Left and workers parties

Humanitarian and freedom seeking organizations!

How could freedom be violated in front of you, who have gained freedom by sacrificing? ! How can a group, that is about to use the same sword of terror here, take a seat beside you in a coalition against war? !  It is a serious question to be asked: how can the front of defending freedom and left work with the Islamic currents whose deeds are very clear all over the world? !

We call you for not letting the freedom to be assaulted in front of you and do not close your eyes on the essence of the political Islam any more. Furthermore we call the freedom-loving people not to let freedom be violated. The political atmosphere of this country should be safe and the threats of those groups should not be allowed.

At the same time we declare that we face the threats of those groups through any political style and continue our campaign of defending people of Palestine.

 Long Live Freedom!
