The worker communist party of Iraq concludes its third congress successfully
On April 14, 2005 The WCPI held its third congress at Palestine Hotel in Baghdad, attended by the majority of the representatives and some other guests.
The congress commenced by the international anthem and a minute of silence in respect to those of who sacrificed themselves for the socialism, victims of terrorism, and our late comrade the leader of the worker communism Mansoor Hekmat.
The congress had commenced with a speech delivered by the party leader Rebwar Ahmed who emphasized on the exceptional meaning of this event especially it is held under these terrible and rapidly changing conditions war, terrorism, devastation, the absence of security, and the need of the society to a communist party that stand firm to face these conditions, a party that put forward the means of salvation from these dangers, in addition he mentioned the position of the party and its conversion to a political mass party and a libertarian alternative.
After the rules were set out to run the congress, it started to discuss the issues and resolutions that put forward to its timetable including: the political activities report since the second congress, the political report regarding the US led war aftermath and the role and position of the political powers, subject regarding the separation of Kurdistan, the statement of the comprehensive and international human rights, completion of the organizational essentials and principles of the WCPI, and a resolution regarding the Iraqi temporary state.
Also a delegation of The worker communist party of Iran-Hekmatest consisted of Rahman Hussien Zadeh (The chief of executive board), Salih sardary (Politburo Member), Mohammed Rasty (Central Committee Consultant) as guests. Comrade Rahman delivered his speech to the congress emphasizing on strengthening the ties between the two parties and empowering the collective strive. Also considering the work along with the Iraqi comrades in Iraq is essential as part of The worker communist party of Iran-Hekmatest battle ground.
The chief of executive board Samir Adil presented his report covering the activities during the last two years in many fields and aspects including Iraq and abroad organization. The report had shown the extraordinary works done by the party organizations in confrontation the Dark Scenario, the contribution in establishment of the FWCUI and UUI, OWFI, also the formation of the student work committee and the demonstration in Basra, defense of the principles of the civil society, putting forward the IFC project, Kurdistan independence organization, publications and establishment of the local radio broadcast in Baghdad and Erbil as well as the abroad activities against war and occupation.
Then Rebwar Ahmed had a presentation regarding the changes during the last two years and the party position following the war and occupation, the role of the political powers and their effects, the role of worker communism and its party amid these avenues.
The presentation consisted of the policies and the stands of the party and its decisiveness in demanding immediate withdrawal of the US troops and their allies, organizing a comprehensive struggle against political Islam and other nationalist groups, standing in the for front of the women movement.
Then a discussion revolved around a resolution concerning the necessity of the separation of Kurdistan as an appropriate solution to solve the Kurdish issue and distancing the people from the ghost of war and ethnic hatred that has been encouraged by the nationalist groups. The congress then adopted a resolution in this regard. Also adopted the comprehensive and international human rights presented by Shamal Ali, as well as the completion of the organizational essentials and principles of the WCPI, presented by Saman Kareem. Many issues were lined up for discussion however because of the time limitation they were put forward to the upcoming central committee to deal with them including modifications should be made to Part 2 of the party platform “Better World” as a result of the war aftermath and the fall of Bath regime.
In conclusion the congress had elected 46 members to the central committee, and then Rebwar Ahmed had delivered his final speech to the congress emphasized on the obligation of making this congress as a turning point in the party’s life. Besides he added “we are operating in exceptional and harsh conditions which make either success or failure possible, however the victory relies mainly on our will and as Mansoor Hekmet said all bridges were destroyed behind us and we have no choice but to move forward”.
In the following day the central committee had a meeting to evaluate the congress and to focus on enhancing and empowering Iraq Freedom Congress as an alternative for the Iraqi people that rescue the society and restore civility.
At the end, the meeting had elected 19 members to the political bureau and unanimously voted in favor of comrade Rebwar Ahmed as a party leader.
